Ok here's an update with my issue. In the last several hundred miles I have tried a few stock maps from the fuel pak with no luck. I checked all cables and everything is fine. I have held off calling the dealer as I'm assuming I will be told it may be from aftermarket items installed causing the problem, and that might actually be my problem but not sure. Wanting to rule out as much as I can before I take the bike in mainly due to the fact that it only does it sometimes.
So just to go over my issue again, after riding for a few hours when stopping at a light or stop sign the idle will suddenly jump up about 100-200 rpm. When it does this I can barely let off clutch and it acts like it wants to die then goes back up to the higher idle. It also does the same thing if I just barely turn the throttle, the idle drops almost dying then climbs back up. Any thoughts?
This still happens. Happened on a friend's 2016 CVO Road Glide. He had no idea why his idle was so high. I took him through the reset process (cycling the ignition 5 times) and it fixed the high idle.

When the idle is acting up, have you tried rolling your throttle forward (like turning on/off EITMS)? If so, did the idle return to normal while it was rolled forward then return when you released it?

When the idle acts up I can roll the throttle and then let off and it goes right back up to the higher idle. But when I do this is when it drops down like it's going to die, but it never has actually died on me. I'll have to do a little research on the eitms as I'm not too familiar with that.
Ok watched a quick vid on eitms and looked at my bike and it is enabled. I'm starting to wonder if this is what's happening.
This is is my first ultra, coming from road kings so not sure if that bike had that feature or not because I never noticed this happening with those bikes.

Yeah, if the EITMS is kicking in while at idle, the first blip of the throttle bogs a bit until the rear cylinder is back online. I hate that part of EITMS so I use it sparingly.
Ok thanks for all your help on this, glad to finally have figured out why this is happening. Definitely puts my mind at ease with this new bike. I figured I could find a solution to this from this site. This harley ultra has been the most enjoyable bike I've owned so far. Thanks again and safe riding to all.
