Getting 2 plastic parts with a 3rd plastic part sandwiched between the 2 to fit nice a tight over the distance with only 3 screws doesn't always make for a tight joint. The metal trim pieces do help spread the clamping pressure. I imagine that alot of the guys that pull the brass threaded inserts out of the inner fairing, do so trying to get it all snugged up with no gaps

Mine has it.... caused by a rear brake issue.

From the dealer...

"Customer states rear brake shudders so bad it shakes the windshield."

"Tightened windshield."

I noticed the gap on my '14 after I bought it and remember my '11 not having a gap at all. I figured it had to do with quality control. I have since added the bar and shield chrome trim to mine but didn't notice if it still has the gap. This posting is a reminder that I should check it. Not crazy about the gap since I'm a bit leery of rain possibly getting inside the fairing.

I found that I need to add Loctite to the middle screw and barely snug it up. I also added a little foam to the middle to seal the minimal gap.

I ended up buying the Ciro brand windshield trim in black. Just came in the mail today and installed right away.

This trim covers the known gap on the 14-15 batwing bikes. I don't know if this has been fixed on the 16-17 or not. It cost me $60 through Revzilla and is made of steel.

I recommend to anyone looking to get rid of the known gap.

It appears you used the stock bolts/screws. According to the site for the trim piece, the instructions say to put the stock hardware to the side as it will not be used. Did you reuse the stock hardware? The photo on the Ciro site shows ugly taller caps, which hopefully they are an accessory. Just more or less curious if you used the stock hardware, or if they send normal hardware. Thanks for the info!

I found if I snug the middle screw 1st, then work outwards by pressing outwards on that gap area while snugging outter screw, it removes the gap. Then I go back and tighten all 3.

My 15' SGS has a small gap between the middle & outside bolts - nothing that I gave too much thought about though
