Depends on what sort of miles you put on your bike, how often you use your brakes. I ride all highway miles and any sort of slowing down I need to I coast and downshift.

I replaced both sets at 25K. I'd say the mileage was split 50/50 city/highway.

I have 29k on my bike and just changed the front and rear brake pads with the OEMs. My rears were ready for sure but had some life left in the front. I'm heading out on a trip to the Ozarks in two weeks and went ahead and changed the front since I had the wheels off putting new tires on. They aren't cheap but at least I do my own maintenance and don't have to pay for labor.

Alot depends on where you live. I have like 5 stops max on my way to work and back home. Most of my riding is highway or rural country roads.
