been riding my '15 Ultra limited for a while now and each time I have to do something I get more and more frustrated that I paid so much for a bike and there are so many little things that irk the hell out of me. Like putting air in the tires. Off come the hard bags, on goes the extension cable, on goes the chuck. And the front needs an extension too. I have to fish it through the hole in the rotor.
And the damn phone slot - it is useless with any modern phone. I have one of the smaller android phones and when connected to the port, it won't go in far enough to close the door. Forget putting an iPhone 7 or Pixel XL in there. So you move it to the back truck and back there is a 1970's vintage cigarette lighter port. So out comes the USB to Cigarette adapter. And back there you can't control the phone like you can when plugged in to the front USB port.
BTW, has anyone tried moving that to the rear? Doesn't seem like it would be too hard. Seems like a new project I can do.
Anyway, the master cylinder/control housing/grip trio cluster fluck. I put in the lighted switch controls and I thought while I'm here, I'll adjust my levers and control switches to a more comfortable position. Yeah, right. they are tied together in such a way a Chinese Puzzle maker would be proud. If you want to move one, way twist it upward to get better access, they all go that direction. Terrible design.
Sometimes I just feel raped as a consumer by this big MoCo called HD. The rushmore series was supposed to have listened to bikers. I'd like to see those bikers, read or hear what they said.
Thanks for letting me rant. I feel better. Not really, but I'm getting on my bike - that always makes me feel better.
Now, where is that damn air extension cable.....
My girlfriend says that I like to see the negatives in a lot of situations but reading this forum makes me feel better because there's no way I whine as much as some people do on here.
Then again, I haven't checked my air pressure yet this year and I don't use my phone while riding.
First off, I don't use my phone while driving. It's for music. Second, if you don't check your air weekly, well that's on you. Thirdly, I know the foam comes out. If you read the OP it states it's the depth. The whining is because these are little details that obviously if a motorcycle driver / enthusiast had been asked to design around, the solutions would have been better. I would have been just as happy without the phone slot, but that's how it was sold. If it wasn't there, then I wouldn't give a crap.
And lastly, i do know how to put air in. Where do you get a 90-degree chuck out on the road at a store with an air pump or if are at a garage that is closed? And that chuck (which I have several) doesn't fit because the rotor are too big and the height of the schrader valve is too high.

The real problem is that you have a bike with too much junk on it. It lacks simplicity. Riding a motorcycle is like running away from home. The idea is to leave it all behind, not to take it all with you.

If you use the clamp-on 90 degree air chuck and pump with built in presure gauge nothing has to come off the bike, it takes 5 minutes with bike on a jack and maybe 10 minutes on the side stand. Bags should not have to be removed.
