Default peeling paint

Hi All from the UK

After 40 years of motor cycling, 18 motor bikes , I am the owner of a Ł20000 , 2014 Harley Davidson Street Glide Rushmore
I have to say, over all I think it is the best bike I have ever had, Harley Davidson made many improvements in the StreetGlide Rushmore .
i.e. it Handles well , stops , good mpg , and plenty of luggage space.
BUT, after only three years the paint is peeling on the front mudguard , and falling off on the back mudguard.
When I contacted Harley Davidson UK I was told, there is a two year guaranty on paintwork, when pressed , I asked why was the paint is coming off, I could not get a answer , but was told by Harley Davidson to ask the dealership I brought it from, to see if they would do a repaint as a good will gesture ! Guildford Harley Davidson UK politely said no.
I found this very strange that Harley Davidson put there production problem, onto the dealer , but by doing so I feel Harley Davidson know they have a problem with regard to there paint .
I have look into Harley Davidson forum and can see I am not the only one with regards to peeling paint
on mudguards and Petrol tanks all models and years including 2017
so I am left with a rusting three year Harley Davidson so much for the worlds greatest motor bike
Harley Davidson say Screw It Lets Ride
but it looks more like the customer is the one to be screwed !
I can not tell you how much I feel let down
all Harley Davidson are interested in is the bottom line
paint should not be coming off a 3 year old bike
Harley Davidson should hold there hands up a say yes it is a problem in production , this is a sad day for Harley Davidson
I thought you may find this interesting and has other owners had this problem

Something else that may be of interest
Harley Davidson built in sat nav ( boombox )can not be used fully in the UK
The sat nav can not be maped, as you can not get the software in the UK. maping software is only available in the USA
This was very frustrating as I could not use the sat nav as I hoped
Harley Davidson UK said they had many people ask about this , and the only thing I could do was to BUY A GARMIN sat nav and use there software

I hope this may be of interest
And worth looking into

Regards Paul Thorne

I've got a buddy that has a black 2012 street glide and the paint is falling off of the fenders. He waited too long to take care of it and now it is rusted beyond repair

Can you please clarify 'maping software is only available in the USA'?

Do you have the 4" or 6" display? Most standard Street Glides had the 4". If the 4", nav is not part of that system. If you have the 6", have you been to the naviextras page? I see there is a Europe map listed.

Same here. I've not heard anything about this issue and haven't experienced it on my '15 Limited.

I remember back in '03 there were problems with the powder coat coming off of the frame around the steering head, but that's the only paint-peeling issue that I can recall hearing about.

2 months after I bought my limited I was washing the bike and I notice a bubble on the top of my front fender. Closer inspection showed it was a bubble in the clear coat. Using a sponge I rubbed the bubble and it exploded into small pieces that looked like rust. I drove it to the dealer and they said I look to them like a rock chip. If I had not known any different I would have to agree thats what it looked like. So I was pissed. Bought some touch up paint and fixed as best I could. One month later another bubble appeared on the side of the finder. I called the dealer and the manager said don't touch it. Just bring it here and let us look at it. When the shop forman looked at it he call Harley and they said replace under warranty. I haven't had another paint problem for 2 years now.
