I also purchased this recently and a lot of the areas of new development are now on the new maps so I am happy with it, also a lot of the new hotels now show up when i enter there addresses in .. so it was worth it for me..

I've been on the fence about buying the update. A decent Garmin with lifetime map updates is just $95 on Amazon. It's not waterproof but they sell inexpensive waterproof cases.

If the map update was $79 or even $99, I wouldn't even think twice. But $150 is steep for a one time update on a 2 year old data.

On the upside, it would be much more current than what's in the boom now.

Well some roads that weren't there before are there now. It could be that the map is 2014 but the database is 2017. Kind of like Windows 10 will always say Windows 10 even though the revisions say otherwise. Regardless I'm happy with mine.

I have a 2014 bike and did the update, I like the onboard GPS, figure it was worth it, probably will sell the bike before doing another update.
