Wondering if anyone has found a trip planner where you could touch off points ( road intersection) and create a route and calc miles. Take a trip with friends and plan on all back roads. Most planners use direct routes.. we're planning a scenic ride and I'd like to figure out the miles.
Anyone ever find something like this??
You can do that in the HD Ride Planner, Google maps, and others by clicking and dragging the route to where you want it.
In Ride Planner use the "add location" function and it will give you the miles between locations. Click the route to add a waypoint then drag the waypoint to where you want it. Right click to change the waypoint to a location.
In Google maps, right click for "directions to/from" then drag the route to where you want it.
InRoute, is an awesome planner. You can set start and destination, then add any waypoints, to take you so the beaten path. Only downside is I haven't figured out how to download it to my Garmin. But, it's an awesome planning tool.
Furkot is also good and the file can be saved and exported to .gpx or to .kml files. I use furkot linked to scenic, and can automatically send the saved route to my iPhone running the scenic app. The app is not free, but you can download maps to the phone and will not be dependent on a cell connection for the gps function to work.
thanks.... I had forgotten about the hd ride planner.... took a bit, but I got what I was after!! was looking for a rough route, and a few twists and turns. this worked well.
thanks for the reminder!!!
fwiw.... my regular riding buddy and I are taking 4 rookies on a weekend trip. for them, this is a big deal ride. for us, just a small warm up! they are excited, we've had couple of planning meetings, and they are ready!!!
The best thing I have found is TYRE its free and you can get it here http://www.tyretotravel.com/download-tyre/ after completing the route you can save it as several different file types that are compatible with the GPS of your choice. For GPS I use the Android version of CoPilot on my phone. Just remember to put in lots of way points in order to get your GPS to follow the exact route you want. Every GPS will handle Way Point to Way Point a little differently. I really like CoPilot because it saves the map to your phone or SD card and you don't have to rely on internet when you WAY off the beaten path like I do quite often.

+1 Furkot. Use the web app, its free and you can download the GPS points. Calculates and finds gas stations based on your mileage, sleeping spots, etc. love it

I also use InRoute. I had the premium edition but it was on my old iPad and it crashed, so I'm back to the basic version.
I've been using MotogoLoco (https://www.motogoloco.com/map/). Seems to work pretty well and no issues saving to .gpx and loading it into the Nav. Just have to make sure you use a lot of waypoints to force the route you want.
