On my 14 I used the V&H FP3 and the V&H dual slash cut pipes.
I did notice the throttle was more responsive and smoother than stock.
I get a good smooth ride at 70, like it was meant to be there.
I also average about 45 mpg.
I don't pay attention to cooling, torque, horsepower increases and other things most people look for, but I am sure it may have increased those a little.
The best benefit is the bike will run cooler. I first went with Fuel Moto JackPot Classic mufflers with their decatted header, K&N filter with Vieds. Bike ran great but still had surging at low RPM's in traffic, finally bought the FP3, and using a canned tune of the V&H Slash Cut mufflers my bike still runs cool but now the low RPM range is very smooth which makes low speed maneuvering much better. And the butt dyno increase in performance is well worth it!!!
My "Stage 1" mods are in my signature. I noticed a significant (I know it's subjective) difference in my bike. It feels like I lost a touch at RPMs below 2000 (probably due to lack of back-pressure) but over 2000 and it shines. I don't have a dyno sheet to back it up, just seat of the pants.
My right foot is much more comfortable.
I don't know if my mileage changed much, I get about the same per tankful.
Depending on the "tuner" and changes you can make adjustments from a cellphone or laptop. I'm sure you can find someone with a laptop to get the initial setup taken care of... depends on how you manage the software.
With the intake I got I did have to modify my air cleaner cover to use it.
What he said. I actually took my bike back to stock. It's a little quieter, but it runs better at low RPMs. Not sure I ever saw 5 - 10 hp gain from my stage 1's. First two were V&H mufflers and headpipes using the SERT with Harley Stage 1 breather and Dynotune. The last one was all V&H's too, with a FP3.
