Default Android auto or Apple car play

I was wondering if the 6.5 boom is capable of the above with a flash? That would make our boom the ultimate motorcycle stock system.
I have it on my car and Android auto allows me to use the WAZE app as a map on my car display. That WAZE app is amazing with people reporting traffic, construction, cops.....etc.

I know the older UConnect systems in FCA vehicles and older MyLink/Intellilink systems in GM cars couldn't run either- the screens didn't feature multi-touch gesture capability and the processors weren't powerful enough. They also most likely lacked enough onboard RAM.

I doubt highly that the current BoomBox hardware would support either app, let alone that the software would require a major rewrite as well. Even if the head unit itself was robust enough, it would be YEARS before we got a solid software package to run the unit properly AND bake in Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. Given the glitches and limitations in the Boom system, I'd say it's impossible to see a flash come along that would enable either function.

Plus, I believe both apps require a hardwire connection between the phone and head unit, and at least my Samsung GS7 is VERY picky about the cable used to connect to the deck- an extension cable just won't work. AFIK, neither system works via Bluetooth- or if they do connect, functionality is limited and most of the functions you should have on the head unit stay native to the device. The directly-connected requirement makes it imperative that the storage for the phone is big enough to house the phone with a high-quality cable connected to it- and at least on the Batwing fairings, that's not a given.

It IS interesting to note that Samsung just bought Harman though...they want that inroad to the connected car world that Harman had. Perhaps there is a slight, tiny, infinitesimal glimmer of hope that they'll pitch a useful product to the Moco before I am too old to ride!

The direct connect is there via the USB connector on the bike. If they offer a plug in module like the xm or wireless communication, I'd be 1st in line to get one.
