The temp display on mine seems accurate too when compared with reported temps or nearby themometers. What it doesn’t do is react quickly to temperature changes. On a 40F morning I will push the bike out of the 55F garage, start the bike, put on my helmet and gloves and the temp display will still read 55 until I get 1/4 mile down the road where it will start dropping a degree at a time until it hits 40F. The temp sensor is probably mounted in a safe place that takes a while to reach ambient temperature.

Mine on either Touring bike is accurate within a degree or so, unlike on my '15 Camaro where the sensor must have been near the exhaust or some hot item. I could drive the car and the temp would read; say 70° and turn off the car. Upon restart it would read 125°
