Default Front wheel bearings

At 17,500 miles my right front wheel bearing was roached. Prior to this iI was noticing a slight noise from the front end, it sounded like a little nut or screw was bouncing around. I had my wheel off 2000 miles ago and the bearings appeared to be good. But yesterday I was riding to work and I heard what sounded like I ran over pop can in the road, a few more miles down the road and I heard the same strange noise. I pulled over to look at the wheel and saw no dust shield and that half my "*****" were missing! So I drove it real slow about 6 miles back to my shop. Replaced both bearings and my brake pads were close so did them, while I was in there. Next time I hear new noise's I'll inspect more carefully.

Just did mine at 35K, not that I needed to, but I had the wheel off and the bearings, so why not? Whose bearings did you use?

Did mine with All ***** when I had the wheels off to get powder coated. The right side front was fine but starting to rust.

Had your exact experience on a road trip last year and it cost me $400 for a 90 mile tow to Bozeman. I sure hope the replacement bearings are better quality.

I have near 13K and going to have new rubber put on, I plan to remove the seal and inspect the bearings, and if they look good, will grease them. I have a grease needle to get around and behind the *****. Anyone else do this?

I used the factory HD. I would have ordered from All ***** but wanted to get it back on the road that day.

I must be lucky. I have 37,000+ on mine and they are still fine. Check them often due to all the horror stories about bearing failures on here. I do have a new set, front & rear from All ***** for the next tire change. I usually replace them anyway, needed or not at the 50,000 mile service but have decided to do them at the next tire change just to stop tempting fate. Which with the tire wear I have been getting may be close to 50,000 miles anyway.
