I just went from an Ultra Limited to a 2017 RGU because of my Ultra being totaled after being rear ended. As I was shopping I was thinking the same thing, why do I have to start adding things. Maybe HD will read this thread and change their ways!

Throw another $2000.00 at it and you can get Harley custom chrome wheels, a paint job on the inner fairing and a dab of chrome trim for the front fender.
I really do like the chrome on the wheels of my Limited. It's so much easier to keep clean than the raw polished aluminum. With the price difference between the Limited and the Road Glide Ultra it will actually only add $1500.00 to the total. You can probably sell the stock wheels for several hundred apiece also.
I know and it is sad and personally it really hurts. I always wonder why companies do not take my needs and feelings in account. Is that the "fire at will" you wanted? Guess thats why I'm a Road King guy. HD does not screw with profection. Just pulling you chain Dawg.
I am with you on this. I too totaled my 2014 Ultra Limited. I wanted the RU bad enough that I am putting up without having the extras. I did install headed grips, not a bad job to do yourself. The thing that I miss the most is the gauges. They don't have the lighted dial indicators like on the limited. Someday i will pony up for the painted inter fairing.
Hey neighbor. You need to come join our group "Triangle Road Dawgs".
We meet every once & while in Apex on Saturday or Sundays...head to the mountains..ride all day & come home. 500-600 mile day trips. They did 525 last Saturday. Went up to Va. & road the Back of the Dragon & surrounding back roads & came back.
BDQC, your question isn’t stupid or petty. I had an Ultra Limited, but converted to the RGU in 2016. I love the RGU, but I miss some of the nice things on my Limited (grips, wheels, cb). I’ve often wondered what in the hell is HD’s problem? An RGU Limited would sell like hot cakes.

Been up there many times.
Put me in your contact list and hit me up. Things get a bit busy this time of year but I do like an all day ride.
