Im guilty of that also.. however mine happened when I went to use the hazard switch, dunno who designed this where the hazard is directly in line with and on the other side of the kill switch!!! At least I slowed down...
the horn location is odd also.. I really like the police bike setup like a trigger
My new bike does and odd thing. You hit kill and shut her off with the selecter off/on/acc switch. But you hit the hazards as well, Walking away you notice she is doing the blinkie blinkie thing, like the alarm system went off. But now the hazard switch no longer works ( with bike off) I dicked with this the first time for 10 15 minites. My buddies brand new King did it too. Finally realized you have to restart bike, turn hazards off then shut her down normally. Only way I could shut mine off, That I figured out anyways, his was the same.
Hit the kill switch on my '07 SG by mistake on ride down to Daytona on I-95 a few years back.
Coasted to side of highway, figured it out and restarted.
Made me realize if it happens in the wrong situation, it could lead to bad consequences.
Picture tight traffic going 75+ mph with no shoulder to pull over on...

And don't forget, if you have your hazards on and phone bluetoothed to the bike, the bike keeps the phone connection active until you turn off the hazards. Discovered this when a buddy got in a wreck. Put on my hazards, shut down bike, grabbed my phone to call 911 and ran over to help, but couldn't hear a damn thing on my phone. DOH, despite my bike being turned off, it was still synced. Turned bike on, turned off hazards, then turned bike off and all was well. I could have just told the phone to use the hand set, but I didn't want to keep doing that due to in and out of range.
Back in 1981, I was riding an '80 FXS... It had both electric & kick start.... I NEVER used the kill switch on the handlebar, it was always on, I just used the key to turn things on/off....
A couple of us were standing around our bikes, having a beer..... I was saying I could start my bike 2nd kick every time (true about 90% of the time).... A friend bet me 10 bucks I couldn't do it...
After about 15 kicks, and dripping with sweat, I was astonished I couldn't get it started.... My friend walked over to my bike, with a sly smile on his face, and turned on the kill switch he had turned off without me seeing..... and he demanded his $10....
The kill switch is now the first thing I check any time the bike is dead..!!!!

Davidson Harley "I have never accidentally hit the kill switch--but the horn button trying to dim the lights! Scares the **** outta me every time."
I've done that too & yes,I almost **** myself when it happens.
Well, thanks to this thread I have now accidentally hit my kill switch on the freeway too. Seriously, less than a week after reading this thread I fell victim to my own stupidity. I was beyond confused for about 1.7 seconds, then remembered this thread, flipped the switch and fired it right back up. lol Doh!

Too Funny
Now you know is is no big deal! Hopefully you and I will never do it again. I know if I do I'm keeping it a secret.
