Default HD/WHIM Not Working

I am having WHIM issues and neither my local dealer or myself can figure out. I have had the WHIM and the HD 20S headset for 5 months and has worked as described up until Saturday. I went for a breakfast ride and my headset would not pair to the Boom therefore, I had not communications or audio of any kind. I took it to the dealer and they couldn't get it to even find the "wireless headset". Got a call Tuesday that my bike was ready. Picked it up, used the phone on three calls just to ensure it was working and it did. My music was playing through the headset and once again happy. I get home 7 mile trip and now the phone (mic) is dead again. I can make calls but the person on the other end cannot hear me.

Called the dealer back and they are scratching their head! Anyone with the WHIM and HD 20S headset have any issues such as mine?

I am seriously considering going back to the corded set.

Did you recently update your Whim software? Mine was working fine until I did that. I take mine in in Wednesday. I wish I had the old software to reload!

I did have my dealer update first week in June before a 5 day trip which it worked during the trip.

Let me know the results once you get your bike back. I will be taken mine back hopefully tomorrow or Thursday at the latest.

The wireless is nice no doubt and everything is going bluetooth however, in my opinion even with the harley branded headset, the music quality is not as good with the BT compared to the corded set but of course, music quality is subjective.

I’ve a couple of thoughts. It could be the firmware update. The good news is you can always reapply it and on the Sena website they have old versions of the software. The other possibility that springs to mind is an intermittent connection to the WHIM or the CB connector. If you are comfortable pulling the fairing it’s anout 40 minutes to pull and put the fairing on the bike. If you do take it apart, I’d recommend a bit of dielectric grease on the contacts. If neither of those fix it, then it could be the WHIM board. Hope that’s not the case. Out of curiosity, if you delete the pairings on the phone and headset and pair the headset direct to the phone and call someone, does that work without the bike in the mix. If it does, then that puts more weight to something wrong with the WHIM.

Good luck.

I dropped it off at the dealer as I have tried all I know. As pairing to the phone directly yes, I tried that and same issue. Something else I tried was, connecting the corded set back knowing some bikes work and some don't. In my case, everything worked using the corded set except the mic using the phone. I can hear the party in the other end but they cannot hear me which is exactly what the WHIM is doing.

I bought into the WHIM system about two weeks after it was made available from HD. I started out with the regular Sena 20S and later updated to the HD 20S EVO. I have had no problems with the system. I use a pair of earbuds that also have a 27DB noise reduction feature. I have a moderate hearing loss and can't afford to lose any more hearing. Anyway, I have always installed any radio or WHIM etc updates when they are released. The original WHIM module firmware version was 1.0.2. As far as I know the WHIM firmware has not been updated. The software update page still shows ver 1.0.2 for the WHIM firmware. Yes, there has been some updates for the Boom radio software and the 20S EVo etc. How did you update the WHIM or were you really talking about the 20S EVO firmware updates, the Boom radio updates, or the Device Manager updates?
