Perhaps a sweatshirt or something of that nature got sucked on up into the rear or possibly forward pulley.... Has the sweatshirt incident happen to me many moons ago!
If it is too tight, how do I loosen it? Again, stuck at the clinic til 5:30 pm so Ill have to wait til then to check the belt.

TBH, if you have to ask, you shouldn't be attempting this. HIGHLY recommend you take it to a shop. Not to be dismissive, but the entire thread seems to indicate you aren't very mechanically inclined/familiar with the bike, and with that taking certain actions put your (and possibly others) safety at risk.
