I have toured on an Iron head, the RK is EZ.
Just put a trunk on it for the woman if you elect to bring one.
A piece of cake.

My road king I added a reckless batwing fairing, removable tour pack and it was a touring machine. Still close to ride of my RGS....In many ways I preferred the RK. Balance of RK was better, it was simply a dream to ride, in many ways I wish I had never parted with it..

Once a batwing and trunk are added there is no reason why you can't go around the world.
Like said above I have a batwing on mine- I would not trade this carbed Evo for a F.I. TC chain driven nightmare for nothing

Can you tour on a RK? That's a silly question. If you want to add a tour pack and a fairing thats fine, but you certainly don't need too.

Road Kings have 6 gallon fuel capacity, full travel suspension, full size tires, wind protection, storage, foot boards for rider and passenger and a decent seat for both. Kings have a lot of pluses and few negatives.

nice choice, however best touring bike and all around city highway is a street glide IMO> Specifically you might miss the batwing protection on your hands in inclement weather.

I think almost any bike is capable of touring. I rode 8,000 miles in 1981 on a '79 Low Rider with a pair of throw over leather saddlebags. Having owned 10 Harleys since, including 2 RK, I can say with confidence the RK makes a great touring bike. The only challenge is managing your load (passenger/gear) and where to put it. One 3,000+ mile trip on a RK I added a backrest and a large T-Bag for the two-up ride. Worked great
