Took the bags off when I had the tires replaced, tried to clean all the brake crud off the rear wheel but nothing worked. I even tried that "Purple Stuff" straight up but it didn't make a dent on that baked on crap, what do you all use? I tried hot water and a brush, tried rubbing it off, nothing...any help please? Thank you in advance....
Might want to try a fine grade of scotch bright. I have good results with Mothers Mag wheels polish. Personally I don't sweat the rear until I change the tire.
Rob I use FW1, cleaning wax. I have chrome wheels and about every month i jack it up clean the wheels with this stuff, no water, no residue left behind, i am told it works well on paint but i only use it on the wheels and pipes (chrome).
I bought this at the PX gas station about two years ago from a stand that a concession guy set up, 12 cans for 100 dollars (still have 7 cans left). Even tho this is good stuff, Amazon price is ridiculous, i think you can get closer to my price on Ebay.
I've never used water on my bike, Optimum wash and wax, concentrate mixed with water in a spray bottle for the bike, but the FW1 on the wheels, they still look new.
I clean my wheels good about every second or third wash and have never had an issue. I am really surprised the purple stuff did not take care of it.
What finish is on your wheels? Chrome, black power coat?
May want to try one of the wheel cleaner products from the auto parts store.
Thank you, the wheels are the standard black powder coat that comes with the Limited. The crud is really on there, I gotta admit I don't usually clean the black/inside part of the rim, just usually polish the chrome outside ring. Yeah, usually the purple stuff works, spray it on, let it sit and rinse it off, didn't even make a dent this time. Looks like I got some work ahead of me. Funny part is the front rim is not even close to being that bad, it looks good...oh well!

Thanks Dave, I gotta try and get them clean then maybe the Mothers, maybe the scotch bright just to break up that crud. Such a PIA for these old bones laying on the ground trying to clean them, especially that belt side...

WOW, looks great, like new. Problem with that OEM wheel is so many little nooks, hard to get into them all. I was hoping I could just spray something on, let it set for awhile and flush it off. Purple stuff didn't work, I was at WalMart yesterday but didn't see anything, I'll try to find the S100 and see if that works. Wish I would have had an hour with the rim while the Indy had if off for the tires but it didn't happen. Thanks...
