Exactly and the same for almost every single motorcycle made on planet earth, yet people question it and make it complicated.
In a way, it is way more complicated. That two year change was not critical till Harley Motor Company put a ABS pump/valve in sadly improperly designed and unfit for service. Space limitations were probably a big part of it.
Also, people screw up master cylinders from improper bleeding by pushing piston seal into areas that have aluminum corrosion.
There have been numerous complaints on here from Harley service failing to get their system correct in numerous tries.
I think the problem lies in Harley's finiacial backing to design quality into it's sum of parts to put together a safe let alone reliable motorcycle.
The ABS only holds a few drips of fluid. All the car ABS units can be bleed by pressure or vacuum. No need to fire unit. Last unit I saw similar to Harley's was on a 93 Blazer. Even it had manual lit valves to purge it. (If they hadn't frozen).
