We have XM on both our car and truck, but not on the bike. They now offer it free to us on our smartphones. I recently installed my WHIM so am wondering, is there a way to play the XM from my phone, that is connected to the Boom system, thru the Boom system?
Really do not want to spend $300 for the unit, and add another monthly fee, so of this does not work, it will be FM only for me.
The answer should be yes. I play amazon music from my iPhone on the boom system. What ever audio you are playing on your phone should be the audio that boom plays. Just be aware that if you dont have unlimited data on your phone you will quickly eat away your available data.

Yes. Just tested to be sure. XM plays from your phone via BT. You will be able to see song title. Didn't test pause, FF and such. However, I did notice the volume is lower. Checked to be sure phone volume was all the way up. It was. Not sure why it plays at a lower volume.... Even playing XM on the bike, XM crushes the music quality compared to flash drive or regular FM.
Ok good to know. Never played tunes from my phone even yet. Newby to the WHIM setup. Do you have to manually open the app on the phone and start it that way, or can you use Siri?
I have noticed that Bluetooth audio is lower than FM, or a flash drive. Personally I connect my phone via a lightning cable. The audio sounds better and keeps my phone charged. I deleted the Bluetooth pairing in order to allow my PackTalk Bold headsets to fully function. Couldn’t justify the whim after recent experience with Sena product customer service (used to be a sena only guy).

Not sure that Siri will work properly in opening the XM app. I start the audio source on the phone before I connect the lightning cable and head out.
As for Pacbold vs Sena, cannot answer, but did go from base model Sena to a 30k and had nothing but issues. My secret, is I buy my stuff from Cyclegear store. The manager there has no problem refunding my money with stuff like that, which he did. Bought 2 new 20s models and could not be happier. Both 30Ks we tried gave problems. Everything I have read says the mesh system screws up the rest. Besides mesh, they are the same product. YMMV
I lost the liner to my riding jacket on a trip, saddlebag popped open and I didn't notice till a passing car honked. Same manager took my jacket back as defective, and got a new one. Yup I am good, loyal, customer. Just like my local HD service mgr, just flashed my bike for my WHIM, that I installed after buying from them. No charge!
Quality service means a lot, no matter the brand, to me. I like HD products, but hard to pass up customer service like I have gotten from Cyclegear.
Ha, learning every day. So the hook up that I thought was Only to hold the phone and charge it, actually Connects it to the Boom as well? Does it give Nav instructions to headset and all that too? Or is this just for music?
I use the WHIM to run the Boom system (Thru the phone) , and talk to Siri for calls, texts etc, and use headset for intercom, so not sure what functions I am missing by using WHIM?

Not sure. I am using Sena Freewire, Sena 10U (full-face helmet) and Sena Calvary (half helmet). I never plug my phone into the USB and mostly use the Boom GPS. I use the bikes USB to run the Sena Freewire and for a flash drive with hordes of music.
