Default Heated seat wiring pigtail 69201599A question

I just bought a heated Road Sofa and I am going to pick up this harness from Harley this week. I would like to hear from someone that has installed this pigtail.

Question is do I need to run that seperate wire into the harness from the battery that is shown in the pic? I only want my seats to work when the key is on.
Is that extra wire from the battery only for stuff that you want powered all the time with the key off? I was told by the dealer parts guy the battery power wire does not need to be put in for my heated seat application. I was told by someone else it most be hooked in for the harness to work?
Anyone used this harness?

Other wire is only for all of the time batterypower. If you only want switched power to lug and go is all you need.

I used that harness for powering something else that I wanted turned on and off with the ignition switch. For that I use the 3 wires pigtail on that harness, those are the same 3 wires that also runs to the plug or connector. 1 is a negative, the other 2 are power leads, 1 of them is a switched positive, and other one is hot all the time. So just be sure to hook your seat's 2 wires connected up accordingly, one wire to the negative lead wire and the other to the harness' switched positive lead. Same way if you "plug it in" using the connector on that harness, just be sure your pins from your set are configured to make contact with the negative lead and the one switched power wire lead.
