2014 Ultra Classic 55K miles. Having some issues that are pointing to a complete top end job. Anyone know how much I am looking at? I understand this is ballpark but saying between $100 and $10K isn't going to help much either. Just looking for some direction before the independent Harley whisperer lays it on me...if this is the work that I think it might be.
thank you
I have a fuel moto 107 now. I came across these threads; https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...t-smell-2.html https://www.*****************/thread...-codes.360177/
seems to say a lot about my issues. I did some looking around at my Air Cleaner and it does ventilated internally.
when I opened the butterfly valve behind my air cleaner it was just tar black, like 5 years of oil blow by and crap and dirty air was being blown back in to my engine. So if it's that nasty in the top end there's a pretty good chance that the lower end is just as nasty, would that be a good assessment?
Not sure how much you can do or how much you want to spend. You may have a breather baffle that needs replacing. The top end on these machines are tough not that they dont have problems. Replace the breather baffles and while your in there do the lifters and thats all it should need.

had lifters and push rods redone. Fuel Moto came with "perfect fit" push rods and there was some significant noise. Had them replaced with adjustable push rods and the noise is gone.
I did a complete top end (S&S 97 in big bore and SE ported heads already had cams installed) for a little less than 4K. That also included dyno tune. I’m sry happy with the results.
