Troubleshooting through an issue with lighting on the rear of my 2014 FLHX/Street Glide. Is the license plate light LED or regular bulb? Neither the service manual, or Ronnie's Microfiche give a description (seems Canada and International are called out on this topic, but not domestic). - Thanks.
I can pretty much guarantee you it's not LED. And, it doesn't look like a "regular" 1156/1157 twist type bulb, either. It is dual filament, so that tells me it's a run and brake light, so I'm guessing the run light also illuminates the license plate.
Finally had a few minutes to investigate. Removed the tailight assembly to look at the license plate light. Looks to be sealed LED, hardwired into the harness.
Those older parts diagrams from Ronnie's and others have always omitted the license plate light on the domestic models for some reason. The diagrams were corrected in 2019. It's the same LED light used on the HDI models.
