Default SGS or CVO

I'm going to trade my 15' SGS in for a new ride. Trying to decide if upgrading to CVO is worth it. Has anyone made the jump? Any insights would be appreciated.

I traded my 2014 Ultra for a 2021 Ultra. I looked at the CVO -however, in my opinion, it was not worth the extra money to me. CB is off of the new CVO and, I already had a backrest.

Some may say that the jump to the 2021 Ultra was not worth it - however to this I would suggest that it is all in what you want. If you like the CVO, go for it.

They removed the CB from the CVO too?

I have a 2012 cvo and a 2014 X. Both are the custom paint. Getting parts like lowers bags speaker lids is very expensive. I recommend the sgs.

now I do like the 110 motor but my 103 motor would run just as well if I put as much money in it as in the 110.

I’ve owned several CVOs as well as several non CVO bikes. I currently ride a 2020 RGL, but would be on a CVO if they had a 2021 CVORGL.
I think what it should come down to is what will you add to the non CVO bike? To me there is not a lot of difference in the 114 vs the 117. So from there think about the paint, audio, trim chrome or black. If these are things you will add to a non CVO bike it would be worth getting the CVO. If you ride them both in stock form probably not worth it.
What you get on a CVO - 117 motor, more limited paint, different wheels, different seat, better audio, fully finished chrome or black, depending on model exclusive trim (bronze armor), heated grips with matching floorboards/controls, power lock saddlebags (tour pack) and some things I’m missing. Start adding these items up and you’ll see how to spend $10k really fast.
Good Luck in your decision

SGS
IMHO

Make your own custom bike. I chose a RGS and added custom options to the bike.
Anything you have installed within 60 days of a new bike purchase is covered under factory warranty as you know and, of course, also can do the extended warranty as long as want to pay for that coverage. The 131 is superb. The bike really likes to have that reserve when you want to pass on two lane highways. I did a few other things that really worked for my taste too.

DO YOU!

Let us know what you go with.

Yes Sir, they did.

In fact, it is now somewhat difficult to add a CB to the 2021s. Remember, you need the push to talk switch - and, as I understand, the only way to get that is to change to the lighted switches. If you check the Harley site, it says the lighted switches are not available for my 2021 Ultra.

My service guy says Harley is trying to get away from CBs.

Not really sure what Harley is doing anymore. My 2021 does not have a front or rear fender light anymore. Really odd, it you look at the 2021 trike, it has a fender rail. Really strange - seems the bikes has the same fender.

Also, by the way, the site says the 2021 Ultra has front fender lights.
High beam, running lights, front fender running lights, directional lights, neutral, low oil pressure, engine diagnostics, accessory, speakers, turn signals, security system, gear indication, battery, low fuel warning, cruise control, ABS, fog/aux lamp indicator

I was trying to choose between a special and a CVO. I didn’t see the value for the CVO. I went with a Special then added a 131” motor, legends suspension, bassani exhaust and bars. Ended up near the price of a CVO but the Special is way faster and handles amazing.

Not sure what's going on with them either, I guess they're more concerned about the stockholder then us, the customer. On our HOG rides we still use the CB, those of us that have them anyway. Maybe they're trying to push everyone to that wireless stuff, WHIM or whatever it is...my Buddy has the new Honda, either 20' or 21', the automatic transmission bike, he had to put a CB in also, the bike came without one too. Upwards of $40K and no CB! I love the CB, even out on the highway just to listen to the chatter, I'd buy a new bike tomorrow if I didn't think they were puttin' the screws to us but I really don't think they care. And I'm not gonna pay that much more for what I feel to be that much less so my '14 will probably be it for me. Good luck with your new bike, looks very sharp!

IUOE ROB - thanks.

I thought my 14 was going to be my last bike however, for y birthday this Past January, we were in the dealership and my wife bought it for me. I really wanted to say no - however since we have now been married for 41 years, I didn't want to upset her (lol).

You are probable correct abut the wireless connections. Plus, in order to use the bike with the Harley wireless, you need to buy the WHIM. So, I decided to not try to add the CB (again not sure you can) or, the WHIM.

I do enjoy the android auto - plus, I can use that to play XM on my bike - so, no need to add that. Finally, the new Harley Ride Planner seems to work well - so, we are indeed looking forward to that.
