Default Automatic primary chain adjustment question

Just wanted to know if anyone has taken the automatic primary chain adjuster out and went with the manuel one? I have heard once you get up in a high milage situation it can cause problems....any input would be appreciated.

Changed mine out to a Baker manual adjuster. It works great. I’m very happy with it.

Changed mine out to a baker on my 12 and now on my 15. No problems so far.

Compensator and clutch hub needs to be pulled for the Baker. Not difficult and doesn't take all that long, maybe 1.5h start to finish. Also, the stock auto-tensioner issue has nothing to do with "older or higher mileage bikes", it has to do from mile 1 with the heating and cooling cycles of the bikes primary chain, it cannot adjust for the size changes because it never loosens. Can lead to bearing wear.

I don’t have a “Manuel” one, but my mechanic’s name is Jose.

I don’t really believe that’s true any longer. I had 50K miles on mine when I replaced it. Not because it needed replaced, but I had to remove the inner primary and I figured why not. My chain tension was fine. The tensioner is on its 4th generation, so it has been improved since the first version.

Is there a specific reason for replacing yours? Your 2014 has at least the "B" or "C" model, which features several improvements like the beefier ramp, finer teeth, and elimination of the spacers in the back. The stock automatic adjuster on my 2015 FLHR has been trouble free for 35K miles.
