Good question. I'm just curious, do you use SiriusXM traffic in any other vehicle and, if so, is it any good? My wife's 2009 minivan came with navigation and a full SiriusXM subscription including traffic. It was still fairly new back then, but completely useless. But then Waze came along, now owned by google, had the optimal system: they track subscriber vehicles and use actual speed of travel, rather than the posted speed limits, in their calculations... I am fairly sure google uses that data too.
SiriusXM gets their speed info from roadway sensors installed on all major urban highways, as well as GPS in commercial vehicles' tracking systems that report to them over mobile networks.

The Sirius Traffic/Weather does integrate with the GTS radio and it is an additional charge of $6.00 per month. It is well worth it to me on road trips to have weather map overlayed on my route.
