Yes, I installed a garage door opener using these switches.. You must wire the switch to a relay and wire the garage door opener to the N.O. side of the relay.
You also need the momentary switch for your switch cluster that is H.D. part # 71400035 or 71400036.. Sadly it will have a Lock or Unlock graphic on it
Why do you prefer taking your hand off the handlebar to switch a rocker switch vs simply flipping the high low light switch on your hand controls? Am I missing something?
I do wonder why Harley setup the inner fairing with room for six switches. What in the world could they be used for?
Scott - absolutely a great question about the switches. On my 2011, I believe there were 4 - but all were functional - and lighted. Driving lights, speaker rocker, accessories switch and oh well, don't recall the last.
Perhaps there will be some sort of a plate to cover those that are not used. You can clearly tell they are blanks. Lighted like prior years would have looked nicer, in my opinion.

I agree. I bought the Flash 2 Pass GDO. Easy install. One lead to ground, one to the high beam. Wire in the receiver to the opener. Two flicks with the high beam opens/closes the door. And its really easy with the momentary high beam switch.

I work as a shop foreman for a new car dealership . I took one of our warranty sun visors that had Home Link in it removed the Home Link from the sun Visor and mounted it on the lower triple tree on my Limited I've done this same install on the last three bikes .
I kept it pretty simple - mine is attached to my horn. We have a three car garage - car/truck in the big bays.
The bikes go in the third door - and there is not a automatic garage door opening there. So, I use the horn.. pull in the driveway ...hit the horn switch - one long, one short beep...wife runs out and opens the door.
Once I am inside, I hit the horn, just one short beep..and she closes the door.

I would really like to know more details on this, possibly a sketch on what wires you use and hooked up. I have the switch cluster and know that the wire run down to the left side cover but that is as much as I know, don't know where to go from there
