I'd like a matte protector that doesn't get covered in fingerprints like the gloss one does...

fingerprints wipe right off, not really sure why you would want to add another. if all you use is your fingertips to tap it I don't really see how it could get scratched unless you use some rough paper towel or dirty rag or microfiber cloth when you wipe it down.

I wonder which is easier/cheaper to replace - the right side switch pack or the screen protector?

Since they're both Chinese made MOCO-designed parts, both are bound to be as cheaply made as possible and wear-out-prone.
