Default Lowering a 2014 SGS

I just bought a 2014SGS and I am just barely flatfooted when sitting on it. I am moving from a Dyna Low rider so I am used to having my feet firmly planted on the ground. Also moving from my Dyna to a much bigger bike I would feel better having a little more traction with the ground. Looking for advise on lowering or changing seats and if a seat change is the best option what seat do you recommend?

That bike's already lowered. Look at a seat change or thicke boot soles. Dealer should be able to let you try a reach seat at no charge. Should help give you an idea of how that will work before spending money.

I agree. Find a cobbler to put thicker soles on your boots. A seat with a narrower nose will get your legs closer together allowing more foot contact with the ground also. I'm 5'7" and with those 2 I am comfortably flat footing.

My sgs is at the dealership right now having the Low Profile Premium Ride Single Cartridge Fork Kit-45500157 installed. Also changed out the seat for a low profile. I will update when i get it back.

Agree with the reach seat and a taller soled boot that way you don't compromise the ride. Talk to your dealer, I'm sure they have helped others out. Most of the ones by me have demo seats to test fit.

I was talking to the dealer tonight and they were talking about the rear lowering kit but I don't want to screw up the ride. I also am used to being able to really lay over my Dyna in the turns and don't want to have to worry about the turns because I lowered it.

the rear is already lowered. If you are going to lower it, have them install the low profile premium ride single cartridge fork kit. Modifying the seat to make it more narrow is a good idea too. I am having both of these things done while my bike is in storage.

Part of the mods Im doing is the HD front cartridge kit and sent my seat to mean city cycles for the super narrow seat mod, oh and I also bought the HD riddick boots which have a thicker sole, should do the trick.

Is there any aftermarket seats that lower a guy? I've been looking around but not much info out yet for seats. I'd like a driver backrest that flips down as well, like I have for my Fatboy Lo (Mustang), which has a separate pillion pad to add for the wife.
