I just ordered a Candy Orange Ultra Classic. I understand the bikes come with one headset for the rider. I have a some questions.
1. How many folks actually use the headset, I've never had a bike with them.
2. Should I order a second headset for the passenger? (Have never had a problem communicating with my passenger before, but perhaps the intercom is something I will appreciate if I have it?)
3. I've read on some reviews that the plug wears out quickly, some say after only 10 hours use. Is there a better unit than the HD as far as the plug is concerned?
Thanks!
I can't believe the wife and I have ridden for decades without an intercom. SO much better than her banging on me trying to get my attention.
I used the included HD headset on my main 3/4 helmet. I ordered up a second HD headset for her. I'm probably going to try a J&M or other 3rd party headset for my other two helmets (half and full) that I wear in the really hot and really cold weather.
I can't see how the plug could wear out with 10 hours of use. It seems pretty robust to me.
I used the headset today for the first time. I set it up with a ff helmet I also used for the first time. Worked fine, Just wished I could make the music louder

Having a similar problem Joe and thought maybe it was my setup, I have the same low volume problem. Did you have to keep it cranked up past 3/4 volume? And the auto volume thing, ain't worth a crap!

How close to your ears do you have the earpieces in your helmet? Is there anything between the earpieces and your ears? The stock HD headset mounted in my Bell 500 3/4 helmet is loud enough to hurt my ears.
Although I'd never want to listen to music through it. No low end at all. The speakers sound WAY better. I have the prompts and the communication (phone, CB, intercom) set for headset and music to speakers. That way I hear the voice commands and intercom clearly in my helmet but music nice and loud and full through the speakers.

I have to check and maybe remount the headphone speakers, I'm using my set from my '06 UC in one helmet and a second set purchased around 2007 in the other helmet. Nothing between my ears and the speakers, I have them velcro'ed to the inside...I'll redo everything and use the new headset and see what happens. My question is what volume do you set the headphones on for music, I have to set mine pretty close to max to really hear the music comfortably. The outside speakers I use half (50%) volume and it's fine, the phones though not so. Thanks!

Like I said, I really don't listen to music much using the headphones but for the voice and prompts, I have it set to a little less than 50% and it's plenty loud. Music would be about the same 50% but it really doesn't sound good.
Go Bluetooth. It's a lot easier and links with your infotainment system and your phone. It is pricey though. A set runs about $350 to go along with the $250 harley helmet.

??? Have you figured out a BT solution that works? If so, tell us about it.
If you don't have a working BT headset, then don't suggest it, because it doesn't f'n work.
