Default Security lerning

I need to hear that I get this or I don"t
I have never had security on any thing.

I have 2014 and I understand there is a 5 digit pin in it now? From Dealer?
I can find out what it is by doing the run/off/run and turn l turn r thing?

So then I know what it is so I can put it in if I am fobless?

Or I can do another switch thing to input a new different pin that I remember?

I can disable it so it never is an issue?
Any other tips to make this not an issue or am I worried about getting stuck somewhere with security issue for no real reason?
Hap

The operation of the alarm is in the owners manual. My dealer installed code was on the purchase sheet.

Your manual & my dealership but in the code I wanted & carry it with me. If your dealership was worth a damn, they would've showed you how to do it.

My dealer inputs a security code that makes it easy for their customers to remember. Birthday..MDDYY...Granted, if somebody knows your B-Day, they can get your bike, but they DO hafta know how input the code. If you want it changed to something else, the dealer can to that. I had mine changed to a number that I will never forget...There is also a card with that code on it, that can be detached from the owner's manual & which will fit in your wallet...

alot of dealers leave it with the factory code which I believe is 00000
then you can either leave it....or change it....

You can change it to what ever you want, look in the manual to see how, the code from the dealer on mine was 12345, changed it as soon I got home.

man, learn something new every day. This is the first I heard of this. My dealer said nothing about this. I'm sure I'm at default settings

If it set to the default, can someone then start & ride the bike without the FOB with that code of 00000?

Can not use zeros.

But it is pretty simple to do.

Did you have any issues changing the code? I'm following the instructions in the manual and cannot get it into the mode to change the code. I have the fob in my pocket and I did this:
  • with off switch 'off',
  • turn to IGN, cycle off switch: ->run->off->run->off->run
  • hit left turn signal twice (nothing happens here except the turn signal)
  • hit right turn signal - nothing except the turn signal

Was there anything special you did? How long did you hold the turn signals? Just until they work or longer?
