I am sure the stocker woudl have been OK for me....but what I wasn't OK with was having these beautiful Custom Dynamics LED Ringz turn signals which put out white light and then the YELLOW-ish headlight. So...had to get the LED.
As for the light output....NIGHT and DAY and the stock wasn't bad at all being DUAL halogen but the LED is a game changer IMO.
do you have to remove the fairing on a street glide to install the new daymaker?
No, but depending on how much room you have to work with it might be easier. You can remove the stock headlight trim ring and then you have access to the (4?) screws that hold the headlight to the fairing.
My daymaker LED light came with another mount that would go to the fairing and hold the light, but I had nothing but trouble. I ended up pulling the stock assembly out, and replaced the headlight with the stock mount and put that back on the fairing. You may have no issues but I did. It was SO much easier using the stock mount than the one included with the daymaker.
I have the LED reflector version on mine and I love it. Way better than factory as others have said. It took maybe 10 minutes to install with the HD wiring harness.
