Go to auto zone and buy a roll of 1/8 inch chrome trim. Place it at the base of the windshield and the crack. Looks nice and solves the gap problem

Does anyone know if the LRS has this issue as well ?
LRS shields are 1/8" thick, same as OEM Harley. They will do nothing for the gap.

Would like to see a pic of this if you have done this. I'd be pleasantly surprised if this is an acceptable solution visibly. Even if it looks okay, it is only covering the gap. A 3/16" windshield actually fixes the problem.

The gap bugs me too but I was looking the Klockwerks flare windsheild. Wouldn't using like some gasket material or something fix the gap as well? I'm totally just guessing here but just something to back the center screw out a bit and not create a gap.

I know some folks have added the trim piece. Has it helped the gap problem? How much?

I added the trim piece first. It did not fix the gap. Only when I put in the 3/16" shield did the gap go away. It is true that a 1/16" gasket material could also fix the gap — it would take quite a bit of fiddling to jam it in there evenly, but I could be done.

I like this idea. However, we want to put the gasket material near or on the 3 areas with bolts, yes? This would decrease the localized compression of the fairing on those spots, right?

It would have to run the whole length of the shield to effectively increase the radius of curvature. This is the problem: the radius of curvature of the outer fairing is greater than that of the shield. If you make the shield thicker, its outer radius of curvature is increased and the gap goes away.

Although I have a RGC, just have to say after having multiple brands of shields that Freedom Shields is better quality than anything else I've had.
