Great thread. I was looking at the HD collapsable bag but will also have to check out the Road Ready bags too. Anyone know if the HD collapsable bag is weatherproof? There's no mention of it on the website nor on the product description pdf.
Many of the HD bags are the same as the less expensive T-Bags.
When on a trip, Teresa and I share the top bag, and keep the stuff in it that we want to carry into the motel room. We re-organize it every morning, with the stuff we will want for the following night.
I put our leathers in the left saddle bag, I get the right for my clothes, and she gets the trunk.
Be careful, as putting too much in the top bag can make your bike feel pretty top heavy.
Many of the T-Bags come with or have options of rain covers for them. We use them for rain proofing, and also they come in handy if you just need an extra carry sack to bungy on your pack.
I like the large HD collapsable bag, velcro on and doesn't move, expandable zipper to increase the storage capacity and comes with a rain cover to pull over bag and draw it tight. I rode over 5 hours in the pouring, I mean POURING down rain and the contents were dry when I arrived.
I have my cover strapped on top with a net in this photo.
