Lost left side controls, HELP!

Lost left side controls, HELP!
Out riding today and looked down and check engine light & solid red "security" light were on and all of the controls on the left handlebar did not work. Turned off, waited, turned back on and same thing. Checked all fuses, all ok. Pulled main fuse, waited, put back in and all seems to work again. I did not take a ride after and get everything hot again though. Any thoughts on this? All ok now or should I have a dealer service dept. take a look? Sure don't want to get 300 miles from home and all controls go out and the fuse trick doesn't work next time. Thanks for any help.
