Default Grasshopper...

I had a Grasshopper backrest on my Heritage Softail that worked just fine. After talking to Lonnie at Grasshopper, he said he would swap out the Softail backrest for one to fit my RK for a fraction of the original cost; something he does for repeat customers. I made the swap, and am tickled to death. It works with the stock seat, easy on and off and won't break the bank.

Thanks Lonnie!

Thinking about getting one of these for my Fatboy. Are they as easy as they make them sound on the web site? Are they sturdy on the softail seats?

The base attaches with the two seat bolts; then it's just a bayonet-style mount, as the backrest is mounted on a stem the slips into the mounting bracket. Pretty simple design. Backrest just lifts out when you don't want it on. Your passenger pad should support it and limit any flex. I used it mostly riding solo on my Heritage. He may have updated the bayonet mount, as the one for my RK is quite a bit wider and thicker.

Yep those guys are awesome. I wanted them to make me a backrest with a shorter bracket for when I had the passenger seat off, I already had their regular backrest. He said he had one handy and sold it to me for about 1/2 price because I was able to use the same mounting bracket I already had. Great customer service!

I had one on my 2010 Fatboy made the mistake of selling it when I purchased my 2014 SGS. I didn't even think I could have ordered a new base. my mistake....they work great

A question for those with one mounted on an RK. From the pictures, it looks like it might push you forward in the seat some. Is it just the angle of the pics, or does that thing stick out into the seat some?

I ride at the back of my seat.

Thanks.

There is some adjustment in order to move the mounting bracket forward or back an inch or so. Mine is all the way forward...
