Just did similar run. Had a great time. Left 6-11, got home 6-24. From AZ, San Diego, up the coast to Seattle, over to Bismark ND, Then south back to AZ.
Maybe I'm used to the warm AZ weather, but it was chilly most all of the coast. Bring some thick wool/warm socks and warm gloves.
My pace put me in San Francisco, and the coast north of there on a Saturday. Traffic was heavy on the coast until about 100 miles past SF as I recall. I think after Fort Bragg it was thinned out.
Awesome! You know the drill, check your vitals before you go, and pack the bike the night before (it'll help you sleep). Pack for hot, cold, and wet.
If youre prepared for the extremes, the weather will be perfect.
Well, just got home from the Pacific NW trip. Tons of pic's to go through and I'll post a few soon.
Synopsis:
Left LV on the road for two solid weeks and almost made the Canadian border with LOTS of twisties up the coast from Ft. Bragg to Central Washington.
3250 miles total and about 76 gallons of gas The Limited was absolutely, positively 100% solid and trouble free, never missing a beat...rock solid...
Went from HOT to cold, FRIGG'N WET to dry, FAST for hours on end to slow. Never used one drop of oil and got mid 40's for MPG average.
Rode two up, probably 400 pounds of humans all geared up PLUS all our personal luggage and gear.
Not once did I wish for more power, just choose the right gear and go
1st gear is a bit tall fully loaded to get going sometimes, but 6th you can run 85+ (Nevada Outback) for hours...
Bottom line...2014 FLHTK is amazing! AAAA++++
Got great comment and tons of looks wherever we went or stopped. Felt like an ambassador for HD...LOL People love the "Rushmore" and want to talk about it.
Infotainment system...
Probably a B+
Locked several times, you know the drill...shut it off...reboot
MANY QUIRKY little things that will generally **** you off, just doing stupid stuff when you want it most.
BUT it works...90% of the time just fine, lets hope for an update soon.
It is just not ready for prime time and REALLY is a beta unit IMHO.
Ya know what though...I'm ridding a motorcycle not the computer...LOL
