I want to put some new speakers in my street glide, some that will handle a future amp if I choose to put one in. When I turn the volume way up on my radio they really sound crackly and shitty. I've been told to stay away from hog tunes and the boom audio aftermarket speakers, everyone has pretty good things to say about the J&m speakers but what size and what power do I need.
I know there's got to be some other good aftermarket speakers that can handle the power but what are some of your suggestions.
Again there will be no amp right now but maybe at 250 watt in the future.

In the "Audio" section, check out the 70-page 2014 Official Audio Upgrade Thread. The time spent reading that thread is well worth the investment.
PS: love the SGS without the pinstripes!

BOOM audio is garbage. The second you add a decent aftermarket amp to the mix those speakers are toast. Ask around in the audio section. It has happened to many... The J&M speakers are a slight step up, however they're not worth anywhere near the price that J&M charges.
As was stated you'd be doing yourself a great service to read through the 2014 audio upgrade sticky in the audio section. Major wealth of knowledge there.

I would take the advice of MontyCop and go read the audio section before you do anything. Personally if you don't plan to add a amp right away might just want to wait on getting the speakers then. Get it done once and right the first time. And yea I would have to agree stay away from Boom Audio. Can't speak on J&M although I do know the amps are decent but will cost you a pretty penny as well. You can build a better system for less than both Boom and J&M. Good luck in what you decide.
I've been advised this makes for a great, relatively low-cost setup....
Rockford Fosgate PBR 300x2 Amp - $156
Infinity Kappa 62.9 Speakers - $65
Harley Boom Grills (Speakers will not fit stock grills) - I think they are $50 each
Can't guarantee the prices are still accurate but they're close.
I'm waiting on the Bitronics 7.1s. They were scheduled to be released today but now the website is saying July 11th. Was hoping to get them before my bars show up so I can do them, bars, hidden antenna in one shot.
Lots of positive comments on the Kappa though and they are priced nicely.
