Hello, Anyone have an issue with their gas cap being difficult to put on and take off. Mine seems like it's binding a lot. It is becoming more difficult to twist this thing even to the point of the cap ratcheting (spinning) without really threading down.
It doesn't look like it had been cross threaded, or that anything is scuffing around the threads. It seems like the cap has either swelled or gone out of round.
I mentioned this to the service writer at the dealer when it went in for the 5K service. He said they put WD40 on it but if it is still an issue they would replace it. It's still an issue so I will be bringing it back.
Just wondering if it is just me or is there any one else with this issue. Haven't seen anything posted here, usually read this forum often.

I had the same exact problem with my gas cap! I was thinking I had cross threaded, but no that wasn't it. I wondered if the cap was just defective, but there wasn't nothing visible wrong with the cap. Finally the last time I was at my local dealership I had a service tech take off and then put on my gas cap. He couldn't believe how difficult it was! So he gave me another one from another 2014 bike and I haven't had a problem with it since. I highly suggest you get yours replaced.
Hmmm. Mine is a real pain to get off. It would probably help if the cap wasn't completely smooth chrome. Next time I stop by the dealer I'll have it checked.
