I use my iPod usually, and thought it was a nice touch that album art was displayed on my screen for the music playing. How do I get this feature when using a jump drive instead? I store my music in iTunes, so I just copied albums from the iTunes library folder to the jump drive. Everything plays great, just no album art. I realize this is silly to some people, but I thought it was a cool feature. The jump drive seems much better than the iPod, I assume reading is much faster.
I don't use iTumes but windows media player. In this case, the album art is stored as small JPG files in the small folder as the MP3's. You have to copy over both the music files (MP3) and the corresponding album art (JPG) file. Sometimes the JPG files are hidden so you have to go into your windows settings and enable the option to see hidden files.
Another way to do it would be to copy the music you want to your thumb drive, and then use an app like Album Art Downloader to re-download the ablum art to the thumb drive.
I just found MediaMonkey while doing a search. It embeds the album art into the MP3 so that it's portable to other devices/systems. I'm going to try it tonight to see if the Infotainment system picks it up.
I use a MAC and save all my files in Apple lossless format....I'm afraid this might hinder my ability to manipulate things but I'm not sure. I'm going to try those applications though...thanks for the heads up!
I have been using software for years that embeds the jpg of the album art into the file. I believe media monkey does this too. All my my files show the album art when I play from a flashdrive on my StreetGlide.
Tortoise, if I remember correct, I think itunes stores copies of the album art separate, but if you drag and drop the image into the area where it shows the album art in iTunes, it should embed it in the file. Not sure if it will do that with the lossless or not though.
