Well, I got the new Amber Whiskey 14 SG. Wow, what a great ride. I had the dealer throw in the tallboy seat and while a slight improvement, I'll be pissing the wife off by looking for another seat that is less curved so my butt doesn't slip forward. Maybe cheek implants?

Anyway, next up is either the LRS or windsplitter. The stock shield is about at chin level for me and I want it taller.

Thanks all!
Oh, I can't get my signature to show up. Did I miss something in the FAQ's about this? Am I too new still?

Congratulations! I think you need to have 50 posts to be able to post pics.....get busy we need to see the pics or it didn't happen. That's the motto around here, lol.

Give the seat some time, you need to put some miles on it to get it broken in before giving up on it. If it doesn't work out, you can always post it on here and sell it. Seats are very tough to figure out, what works for some wont work for others. I bought a C&C Sport Tour that sits you down and back a couple of inches but the foam is very firm. The seating position is perfect for me but is a bit uncomfortable after an hour or so. I only have about 1,000 miles on that seat so I'm not ready to give up on it yet. I have the stock seat on most of the time.

In reference to shields.....go with LRS. They are awesome shields and look great. At your height, an 8" will probably be the minimum height to get the ideal results. It does a much better job of redirecting windflow above yours and your passenger's head. They have a forum members discount too. I tend to slouch while riding and am 5'11" with a 33" inseam and actually prefer the 6" I had on my '12, but 7" is LRS's minimum for the '14's so I went with Freedom Shields who has them as low as 5". You want the top of the shield to align with your mouth so you can easily see over it while in your normal riding position. But keep in mind that when or if you change seats.....it may change your ideal shield height.

But with your height I highly recommend getting some floorboard extenders that positions the boards out away from the bike about an inch. Big improvement! HD also has a repositioned floorboard pan that moves it forward an inch that can be combined with the extenders if you need it.

My advice is to take your time and research all of your options before spending too much in mods. It takes a little while to figure out what's best for YOU. It also keeps the Mrs's from freaking out! Good luck.

Congratulations, you're gonna love it! Your dealer should also have Wind Splitters to demo. LRS and other aftermarket companies offer a ton of great options. If nothing else the demo will give you an idea of size even if you go aftermarket.

Dang, only at 20 posts now. I've been riding for 30 years but only 1 on a Harley. Hard to come up with interesting info that means anything<G>
I looked at the LRS. So far, top of my short list.
What brand would you recommend for the floorboard extenders? HD doesn't seem to have those. At least not that I could find on their website.

I'm sure someone will chime in with floorboard extender ideas, I just use the stock ones.

Vtwin Goodies is what I have. They are like 50 bucks. Soos is also another sponsor on this forum that has them but I don't personally have any experience with them.

Also...if you haven't already seen the post on this forum, check the front spark plug wire to see if it is touching the tank. So far nobody has said it was not. It will wear a groove in the wire. I have 500 miles on my SGS and it is already showing signs of wear. Bring it up to your dealer next time you're there so they can reroute it if necessary.

Also, if you've made up your mind and don't want to stick with the Tallboy seat, maybe your dealer will let you return it for credit on a different seat. They should have some demo seats you can put on and try out. Just a thought.

PS: you can get 30 more posts by replying on the new members section to welcome them. Takes about 10 minutes.

I've been on other forums where folks do that, just saying HI to get posts. Always struck me as a cheap way out. I'd rather do some serious contribution or questions but that's just me.

Well, I'm more of a lover than a fighter. Ask my wife! Never mind, don't. She might say I fight with her.
