I am looking at the identical mod, so I'll be looking forward to more of your input! Just curious, did it move the seat "back" from the fuel tank? Another Member in here advised he ended up with a gap between the front of the seat and the fuel tank. Oh, also wondering if it changed your "line of sight"........Thanks....
I didn't notice the seat back from the fuel tank..it is in the same "spot" as it was before I sent it in....I didn't really go for a ride yet..working late..I am going to try and go tomorrow when I get out of work...but weather may not cooperate...
Will report back and post pics....

I went with MCC too. With a 27" inseam, the narrow/lower seat mod was critical for me. I had the same experience with them. Customer service was excellent and I am flat-footed. Very pleased with the stock seat seat now.
Ok, too many good reviews for me not to try this over the winter. My only concern - is the ride and comfort still the same? I'd hate to sacrifice how I spend the vast majority of the time in the saddle (moving) for the small fraction of the time I'm standing still.
I'm anxious to see what you think of the comfort. I'm about 5'8" & get reach the ground OK at stops, but I have a little trouble maneuvering the bike around by foot when backing it into the garage, backing out of parking spaces in gravel, etc.
I had a custom seat built by Diamond Custom Seats out of Florida for my last bike. It was firm, & really comfortable - I did a couple of back-to-back 750 miles days riding out to the west coast with no discomfort at all. No monkey butt, no sore back (but I did have a tall seat bag on my passenger seat to lean on), nothing. This was on a Yamaha Venture, & I'd go with his saddle again - but a full on custom seat is a lot of money. If I can have mine modded by sculpting it & having the correct density foam installed, I'd be all for it. MCC's prices seem very reasonable to me.

This was my concern as well. I can't really speak to cross-country rides, but in my several-hour-rides there has been no sacrifice in comfort. Was there an improvement in the comfort? Not sure about that either. At the same time I had the seat mod done, I installed a backrest and foot pegs. So, I think I'm about as comfortable as I'm going to get. I still need regular breaks but I don't think that's the fault of the seat.

Good point here. One of the best things about getting flat-footed is the maneuverability that comes with it. I'm a lot more confident now with the duck walk and backing up.
I bought Bates Loggers (same as the side-zip HD loggers but MUCH cheaper) AND got my seat modified by MCC. Not the stock one, though. I had bought the HD solo seat. What I didn't realize is the solo is more like an Electra Glide seat so the mod didn't bring it down much from the solo height, if at all..... Also, I have a lot of wrinkles in the cover where it starts to go up on the tank. They did warn me though that the HD solos don't mod well.
Not sure what's next. With the loggers, I have MUCH more conidence horsing it around the garage and down the driveway. And the seat is comfortable. I'm 225, 5'9" in the boots with a 28" inseam.
I'm just shy of 5'6" and I bought a HD reach seat for my SGS. Much more comfortable than stock for long rides, but it spreads my legs out a bit too far so I'm on the ***** of my feet. I'm going to send it to Rick Butler this winter and have it worked. He did the seat on my Venture and made it lower and much more comfortable. I'm sure he'll do wonders with this one too. He only charges $45 to do the drivers section of the seat, you just have to pay for shipping to get it to him.
