Anyone else with CB issues???
Just completed a 15 day trip across the states (4,899 miles / 18 states) on the new scoot with my friend who also bought a 14 Ultra right before me.
Throughout the trip, we had repeated issues of the CB Comms going in/out for no apparent reasoning. They would work great one day, suck like the eggs the next, or even work 1/2 day only and not again for 2 days. There was absolutely no rhyme/reason for when they decided to work, but we could *always* hear our own music regardless if we lost comms or not.
We even parted from the trip to visit a dealer in one state thinking my bud's headset was sacked. In brief, they had absolutely no idea other than to sell him a new headset (the doofus actually bought it before I knew he was going to or I would have stopped him!). Of course they worked great in the parking lot right after that, but 4 hours later......"Nada!" It wasn't his headset and the dealer has since made right by refunding him.
So, anyone else here fed up with the CB blues on these new bikes? Curious to hear of your experiences before heading off to the local dealer for investigation. Thanks in advance!

Additional issues - the CB cable uses a Motorola connector disconnect that is located behind the seat, infront of the tour pak. This connector is NOT SEALED. It will corrode. Pull it apart, inspect for corrosion & clean as required. Then add some dielectric grease & a waterproof seal to prevent future problems. Also, the stock CB antenna is nowhere close to resonant for CB frequencies; either trim to get resonance or replace with HD shorty which will provide an acceptable SWR match.
One other question - if your friend had a 2014 Ultra limited - why would he have to buy a headset - that should be under warranty?

Are you saying that after I start my bike, <ACCEPT>, then turn on my CB, I'll have to shut it down & turn it back on if I am having difficulty transmitting?
Or, are you saying that if I shut the bike down with the CB on, then restart my bike, <ACCEPT>, & the CB cycles on automatically, I'll have to cycle the CB off & then back on if there is a transmitting problem?
Thanks.....

If you had it turned off during bootup, then you only need to turn it on.
If it was on during bootup, you will need to turn it off, then back on for transmit to work (in this case, receive works w/o doing anything, but needs to be cycled for transmit to work).
I have found this to be consistent on 3 different '14 Limiteds with a June download of software version 1.17.4 - (your results may be different).
I suspect something got changed in the bootup sequence of this version of software in an attempt to speed up the bootup process?
