Besides the price what is the difference between a $125 HD helmet and others that sell for 2 or 3 times the price? Is it worth the difference?

Depends on how much pimp'n you plan on doing….. Take apart a helmet; what do you see? It's all pink on the inside, if you get my drift… Just be sure to 'try them on for size..' and take your *****, er, pick.

Harley helmets are manufactured by HJC & KBC I believe. You can generally find the sam models without the HD labeling for less.

There plenty of websites that list crash test results for various helmets. They are not all the same. Anybody tells you otherwise is speaking from ignorance.

But by all means, put your two dollar head in a two dollar bucket if that works for you.

Usually better aerodynamics, better cooling, quieter, better protection (maybe).

Also, don't get a speed bike helmet for an upright ride.

Best helmet I've worn to date: Akoury AK-88. $89. Hands down most comfortable and most low profile I've had.....and I been riding since the '70s when the only choice was a white 3/4 Bell......

Depends are what you are looking for. More money means more features. At a certain price point you get a pin lock shield which eliminates a fogged screen.

I run this helmet and have 21K miles on it. Love it

Price usually goes up with more features added, vents for top, vents for shield etc. The most important thing is rating and fit. I have 3 HJC helmets that I use for Off-road and snowmobile, love the fit and feel of these. When I went to try a HJC street helmet I could not find one that fit nicely, even the same model as the snow helmet but for summer. Had a different inside shell. I had to go to a Shoei helmet to get a good fit.
With all that being said, you have to go and put then on your head and see how the feel. You do not want to buy and then 1 hour into a ride find out it just S***s. After you find one you like then you can go online and check best pricing.

Good luck in your search

Features, quality of materials, weight, fit and finish. Probably applies more so to full face helmets, but the higher end ones are typically much quieter as well.
