Text message playback has suddenly stopped working
This is a weird one. I have an iphone 6 connected via bluetooth to my 2015 street glide special. bluetooth notification settings on my iphone are on, and the phone connects just fine to my boom audio system. when i receive a text message i see the message icon appear on my boom screen. i can get to the point on my bike where i click inbox and it should play the message over the speakers as i'm riding. this has been working since i got my bike three months ago no problem. however, it has suddenly stopped working; instead i get a feature not available while moving message on the screen and no audio playback of the message. my music i'm playing stops and when i hit the volume up or down it adjusts the prompt volume. i can't get it to switch back to playing music until i kill the bike and restart it. anyone else every had this happen?!?
****......im so glad i just like to ride....and dont worry about being able to see a text message while doing so.... welcome to the pussification of America

haha! thanks for taking that time to add nothing useful. enjoy your ride.
Howdy Sulli, did it work after you upgraded your boom software? If it did and then stopped working then maybe a reset of the system might work. If after updating your boom software it stopped then could be a change in boom software. If that is the case you could roll back to the previous version. Also check the iphone because a new IOS change may have affected it as well.
Now my disclaimer, probably not a good idea to try and read a text while ridding, but you know that. I have to be available to be contacted in emergency conditions, so my phone is enabled. Since my wife will only call me. if God forbid there is an emergency, i ignore all other calls.

hey 68! you may already know this, but on these bikes it won't let you actually read the text message on the screen while riding. what it does is reads the text to you over the audio system (kind of like if you have siri read your texts to you from your iphone). it has worked since the last system upgrade i installed. i may try disconnecting the phone and reconnecting it to the boom system. this falls under one of those 'do i need this, no, but it's there so i'd rather have it working' categories!

I agree if it can work, and it reads it to you, then that is a good feature and would be nice to have working correctly. I never explored it, but your issue is probably with the latest boom update, but could be IOS also.
So check your phone all the correct options turned on and then you may have to roll back to a previous boom version that allowed this option to work.
I have had a "weird" feature stop working a couple of times with my 6.5 Boom radio. So far I have been able to correct it by updating the software (or going back 1 version). If all else fails do a factory reset.
With that being said there are lots of options and sub menus and if something gets accidently changed it can cause issues.
Many of the dealers aren't very well versed in BOOM either. Many have all of a sudden found they can't advance to the next song on their flash drive/USB stick to eventually find out they had a seek setting incorrect and the dealers couldn't figure it out.
Prompts are set to play through the speakers, and I don't have a headset connected of any sort. I did some testing this evening and it appears no prompt is playing through the speaker at all. I went into audio settings and adjusted the prompt volume but there's no feedback coming through the speakers. Usually it will make a noise as you run the volume up or down. Will test the nav prompts tomorrow to see if those are working. Think the fw is the culprit?
