Default 4.3 and 6.5 head units interchangeable?

There is a person on EBAY selling new 6.5 touch screen head units and he said he spoke to a Harley person and they are interchangeable except the GPS would not work. Any truth to this?

Here's a link to the item

I know you can change between the two complete boom boxes, it does not seem rational that you could simply swap the face plates and end up with a upgraded radio. Too many differences between the two. If you want to upgrade, buy a complete 6.5 Boom box, hopefully you can find one used or from a wrecked bike.

I just thought it was strange that he sold 6 new 6.5 head units and a bunch of 4.3 new head units. Where is he getting just the head units. Be nice to upgrade for $74.95 but I doubt that it would work.

I believe there has already been a thread on this but I believe the research came back that YES this is too good to be true. The dealer apparently told another member on here that it wouldn't work. The thread was pretty recent so it should be easy to find. I would love to know who's buying the 6.5'a and what they are doing with them as I would LOVE to upgrade mine to a 6.5 but can't justify the $1799 price tag

Would like to find one of those people that bought them to see what the real story is and how did they have so many.

I had a conversation with the Ebay guy selling the faceplates...

"I get them from a recycler who receives surplus auto parts from manufacturers.
I don't know exactly what is involved to get it going I am only going by what the dealership said......"

I know the GPS will not work as there is no gps connection for the gps antenna on the back of my 4.3 radio. I assume that's the main reason for wanting a 6.5GT. I do not know if the touchscreen would work though.

Does anyone really think that Harley sells first quality boom box face plates to anyone other than dealers? If the supplier making the face plats started selling first quality parts with Harley's name on them to outside retailers, Harley would stop it. I would not trust these parts.

My guess is these are flawed in someway so only certain things will work.
Who the heck would buy any of these especially a 4.3 in the first place?
All the 14's have a minimum of 2 years warranty so I for one would be taking it back to the dealer in the first place.
You can bet than when Harley finds this out there will be one less supplier and a big lawsuit.
