Plan is to add TAB Performance Long Slip Ons with Zombie baffles under the factory shields, a SE Tuner and SE or K&N Filter element under the factory breather once TAB gets the mapping work done. Local HD dealer said that only adding slip-ons doesn't make it necessary to add a tuner, but if I change the breather element and add slip-ons, then yes, so I'll probably get the slip ons soon, and add the tuner/element later.
First impressions:
It's not hard to ride this bike at all. The dealership is about 100 miles away so I had a nice final ride on my slim and could easily compare the two after riding home. After the first two turns I just figured out how much harder to press into turns and the ride home was so smooth. I also took the Fatboy to the parking lot the MSF course is held in and was surprised with how agile this bike felt. Like everyone else said, the torque is amazing. The only thing is I need to chase down a rattle at about 200 rpm. I'm glad I made the decision to trade in my slim and go with the new Fatboy!
Next up is installing the Leatherpro bags I just ordered so it will be easier for me to ride to work on nice days.
I had a super annoying rattle that began around 2000. Mine was the gas cap. I took a rounded punch and tapped 4 opposing dimples on the bottom edge around the metal lip and it snugged the plastic up just enough to allow it to turn, and the rattle is completely gone.
I tightened every nut/bolt/screw ... in and around the headlight before realizing it was the gas cap. Going to try your fix when the snow stops flying.
Picked up my '18 FB last April. She's a torquey beast! Upgrades to date include V&H Eliminator 300s, Tuner, Saddleman Renegade solo seat in brown, and 13" Twin Peaks bars.
Found the forum looking for options to swap out the factory license plate bracket with something under the fender. Any options out there other than the $400 kit previously mentioned? Not gonna do it...
Anybody using heel shifter on this one? All my previous bikes had em and I prefer them but concerned about foot room.
And thanks to the previous poster who also had a rattling gas cap! Gonna follow the recommendation and take a punch to it on the under side.
nice...that swingarm bag looks really good on the fatties, might have to get one for mine. What brand exhaust did you go with I cant tell from the pic
