I subscribed to this because I love watching great builds. With the open question being put out my humble suggestion would be pull the wheels and the grey ceramic colour made gloss black and the inserts that were made gloss black back to a polish or chrome to tie in with the motor accents. End of the day it's still a damn nice bike!
Just my opinion...overall looks really good, but the base color of the wheels is throwing it off. For me. Looks almost like a grey color, could be the lighting of the pics cuz they are a bit dark, but it seems like that color doesn’t go with the rest of what you’ve done. Again, just my two cents
I agree with ThunderTruck. The grey just doesn't do anything for the rest of the bike. It's hard to top the Valencia red bike you sold though. That was the nicest Fat Boy I've ever seen.
Love the bike and what you’v done, but, as u said it’s not doing it like it could. I’m not sure what I’d do, but if the wheels don’t fit the bike, I’d change the wheels look. Possibly chrome the wheels and add the black panels? The gray on the wheels doesn’t go with the bike. Or sell the wheels and put some spokes on? You’re very good at this, waiting to see what u come up with.
Sorry your correct wheels a no no, hope your going to save that paint set & use another set of tins if repaint!
Take your time, research whats out there, not sure total blackout works need some thing to contrast it to make it pop but without being too gaudy
white, ochre yellow?
Doing black front dash rear struts on mine but leaving wheels /rocker box/ lids stock, will decide later on lower engine cases, trying to strike a balance, tough
heres a few efforts i found top one in France, btm in Australia,
Loved your red bike, maybe cos black is getting played out dunno!
Can we hear that pipe?

Thanks for all your suggestions and opinions.
Im beginning to see it your way.
Am I prepared to blow up the entire bike to save the wheels?
Because I started the process of blacking the bike out, I’m going to complete that task.
Ive tried to many times to find the perfect balance of black and chrome, I have yet been able to nail it.
The last Fat Boy was a chrome masterpiece.
I’m going to finish what I started here and de-chrome the entire bike and go from there.
So, to answer my own question, Hell yea! If that’s what it takes.
Meantime, I will get a sound clip of the pipe and cam before I tear it apart.
Thanks again, Rich

Rich, fwiw I like the wheels. Are they the best choice for that theme? Perhaps not to some but they are much nicer than stock. For my part, if I owned that bike with that color scheme I'd be more than happy with them.
You do good work though and have good taste. I have no doubt that whatever you ultimately decide on it will look as good or better as it does right now.
