Is switching cams from a stock to say a woods 22x really noticeable by the seat of pants feel? I know what the dyno sheet says. I'm just wondering about real world riding and justifying the cost to the wife. Lol
I did the Harley SE447 Torque cam, and yes it's very noticeable. A cam swap is by far the most bang for the buck performance upgrade you can do. You'll get the most from an aftermarket cam and aftermarket tuner, but the Harley upgrade is still a good 25% more HP and keeps the warranty intact, so either way you go you'll get a noticeable upgrade.

i went with the same cam, for the same reason, with the same result.

No matter how much you try to justify this cost to your wife, she's not gonna hear you if she's not already on board... at least that's been my experience. Just do it and ask for forgivness later. Haha I know for me I can talk until I'm blue in the face and even after getting her approval, the wife still questions why I spend so much money on a brand new bike. The only thing I can say is "because it needs it."
She just can't understand why a new bike would "need" so many parts and upgrades and probably never will. Don't waste your time and breath. Just communicate what your doing and do it. That works out better for me anyway. Good luck with this one bro.

I told her that if I didn't switch over to gear drive cams, then the spring tensioners were going to destroy my bike and it'd be worthless. All that money I had spent on it would be wasted.. Oh and I told her how much it would cost to have a dealer do it versus me buying the parts separately and doing it myself.. Honey I saved like $1500!! She felt much better about it.
I have the Woods 22x cam. Great increase in seat of the pants torque. No dyno to get numbers but can definitely feel the difference. But you also need to add cost of slip ons, ac, tuner if you havent done a stage 1.

When you did the cam, did you replace the inner bearing and pushrods. I am trying to figure out what I need.

I did the 22X and love it! Get the kit from Fuel Moto with inner bearing, adjustable push rods, lifters and gaskets. I have the inner bearing removal and installation tool for $125 (MBS) if youre interested in doing it yourself. You will also need the cam gear locking tool which I also have and while youre at it install the S&S tappet cuffs in place of the stock plastic ones.
