I haven't but certainly will, and thanks for the suggestion. Have been focused on Ohlins because so many folks on the forum speak real highly of 'em...

Ohlins are certainly a high end company and produce very high quality products no doubt (I've used Ohlins on other Harleys I've owned). JRi, although not as well known on this forum, is a very high end suspension company with their products used by winning Nascar teams for instance. I did a very honest review of the JRi mono shock a couple weeks ago on this forum, check it out if you have time.
Currently I'm looking at also upgrading my front cartridges, I'm looking at another not so well known company, Andreani out of Italy, which makes cartridge systems for softails at a significantly cheaper price, $595 including the springs, vs a comparable Ohlins cartridge setup which is over $1k when you add the springs. Andreani is a posh suspension company that works in the MotoGP market in Europe. Just some options out there that may not have the Swedish name slapped on them, but are as good or better and significantly cheaper.
Thanks for the info, looks like that's what I need so will give Howard a call next week and get the ball rolling...
Thanks for the info guys.
So if you install the ohlins 504 13" mono shock to the m8 softail... how much wheel travel do you gain? I know the suspension will perform better, but does it actually inverse the amount of wheel travel available?
Mike, here's a very handy ratchet set that gets into those tight places when a regular ratchet head runs out of room. I've used it to get my transmission cover off without removing the pipes. I have a different version I believe I bought from Home Depot but this Cobalt looks the same. It's great for getting into tight areas with sockets, allens, Torx Phillips and slotted...... I usually get it started with a regular ratchet and then go to this when it gets tight

I'm not sure you gain any additional shock travel. I use a Fat Bob shock on my Low Rider S to get more travel.
Check out the mod thread that Hulkss has to get more info about the Ohlins mono shock and his solution. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/2018-...l#post19200984

Thanks for sharing this info on the mono shock.... very surprising that ohlins didn't provide a great alternative as they are usually at the top of the pile. Credit to Fox.
I wonder if the rubber bump setup of 25mm is really needed?? It takes up so much of the available travel of the shock? I think a 10mm rubber bump stop would be enough, and give the shock more usable stroke?
