I'll offer an opinion. With the slip on mufflers, you lost your cats and got less restrictive baffles. With the drop in K&N you got a less restrictive filter but retain the restrictive air cleaner back. If you thought it ran ok with the slip ons, it is not a major change with the air filter element. When in closed loop, it is a complete non issue, and there will be learned values that will affect your ve in open loop too. Will it be the best? No, but unless it runs bad or hot, it should be ok.

Hey Mate
Thank you for taking the time to offer your opinion as this makes this forum a valuable place to be a member and i appreciate it.
I fully understand your reply and i do believe there is no real performance benefit from dropping this filter in the bike.
Also as McChad said better off with a Fuel Controller anyways,Trying to be Captain TightAss when owning a Harley dont work Lol
I ran Harley Street Cannon mufflers and used either a touring AC or Ventilator off of a 114 bike. The Street Cannons are not as open as the ones you have and the AC's had the stock filter elements. No tuner, the bike ran great, a bit more noise than stock and very smooth.
Anything I bought or installed since that setup I did with an eye on the future, meaning I can now change cams and/or go big bore, trying not to waste $$$ on half measures I can't use. I got the Power Vision tuner that has me covered for as long as I own this bike, My Stage I runs good but since the M8 does well stock, it's really only a starting point for me.
So, if you're inclined to go beyond what you have, get a tuner. FYI: You won't notice the change to K&N by itself.
I'm running this K&N which is a bit bigger than Harley's Ventilator for the M8 https://www.knfilters.com/air-filter...arley-davidson
but only stock exhaust. Runs great, but I'd definitely tune it with an exhaust change.
I've never seen a dyno posting for just air cleaner and pipes on the M8-107. Would love to see it if someone can point me to it.
Okay so No One Runs this Air filter?????? they are selling them as the website seems to be out of stock so someone must be Buying these ?
I just got the stock replacement K&N and installed it in my stock round 107 Low Rider air cleaner. I think it at least maximizes what the stock air cleaner is capable of flowing. I did a sepst smart tune session, the bike runs great and there is no obnoxious intake noise.
I got sick of running my exposed S&S Stealth air cleaner. It gets filthy dirty buggy and isn't the best in a downpour. Let's not even talk about the breather oil dribble.
